Van Alstyne has a vibrant business district downtown with many interesting old buildings and a museum showing the history of this great area. You can see old Interurban freight cars and the there is still a section of tracks in the middle of one street. This is an old railroad town and you can just imagine Marie Van Alstyne walking the streets.
The merchants go all out when there is a football game or other community event. It’s a great location to catch an old-time small town Christmas parade, get a great Friends of The Library Breakfast or bring your children downtown for Halloween treats from the merchants.
Shop downtown – not big box!
